GUM clinics in Northern Ireland

In Northern Ireland a GUM clinic is a place where sexual health is confidentially assessed and you can be tested and treated for STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections). You do not need to be referred by another doctor. In most cases, you will need to make an appointment. These clinics provide confidential testing and treatment for STIs including HIV, medical, nursing and social support for people with HIV infection, vaccination for hepatitis A and B, PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) for HIV and confidential advice and counselling on sexual health issues. The consultation, any tests and any treatment provided are free. The clinics can arrange an interpreter or telephone interpreting for non-English speakers where required. There are GUM clinics in the five health and social care trusts (HSCT) in Northern Ireland.
