The Rowan is available 24/7. However it does not operate a drop-in facility. You telephone the helpline number to discuss your needs and agree a time to meet.

Opened in 2013, The Rowan is the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) for Northern Ireland. SARCs provide services to victims/survivors of rape or sexual assault regardless of whether the survivor/victim chooses to reports the offence to the police or not. UglyMugs.ie has visited The Rowan and can assure sex workers it is sex worker friendly. Translation services are available if English is not your first language.

The Rowan offers a range of support and services for all genders. The Rowan supports people who have experienced sexual violence or abuse recently or in the past. They have a team of specialist and dedicated staff who understand the impact sexual violence and abuse can have on people’s lives. They are here to support you. Their services include medical examination, emergency contraception, sexual health screening and referrals onto counselling services.

They can support you in contacting the PSNI (police) if you choose. You are not obliged to report to the police. The Rowan will support you either way. If you need assistance or advice just call their helpline number 0800 389 4424. All calls are treated professionally and in confidence.
