Please be advised that there is currently an anonymous unknown group calling itself “Escort Ireland Watch” carrying out surveillance on people they believe are sex workers across the country.
This group may be placing phone calls to sex workers, sending messages, specifically trying to find out the addresses sex workers are at, or visiting properties and taking photos. Dossiers of information on people they believe are sex workers are being sent to various persons across the country, including politicians, police etc.
This is happening everywhere in the Republic of Ireland.
Please be aware of this situation and take any and all extra security precautions you may feel necessary to protect your privacy and well-being at this time.
An Garda Síochána have requested that UglyMugs.ie send out an alert about this and would like to remind sex workers that they may be contacted.
This is being investigated by the Organised Prostitution Investigation Unit who can be reached at (086) 828 2704 or (086) 828 2515. If you have any information they would be pleased to hear from you. These phone numbers are not monitored 24/7.
In any sort of emergency – if you feel you may be in any danger- you should always dial 999 for an immediate police response.
